How to know if you have uterine fibroids?

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors of the female reproductive organs. According to the relationship between myoma and uterine muscle wall, it can be divided into myoma, subserosal myoma, and submucosal myoma. CT findings of various types of fibroids include:

How to know if you have uterine fibroids?

 1. Submucosal myoma

Submucosal fibroids: The uterus is enlarged, and the uterine cavity becomes smaller. The enlarged uterine cavity can be regarded as a round mass, and its shape is approximately equal to the density of the uterus. The quality of the enhanced scan was uniformly enhanced, and a "pseudocapsule" could be seen at the edge. However, a plain film CT scan is not easy to distinguish from uterine hypertrophy, uterine body cancer, and adenomyosis, and an enhanced scan is helpful for diagnosis.

 2. Subserosal leiomyoma

CT showed an extrauterine mass with clear margins. Due to insufficient blood supply, most of them showed mixed density on plain film, while neutral degeneration and necrosis showed low density. When the base of the mass is connected to the uterus, the CT appearance of subserosal leiomyoma is similar to that of myenteric leiomyoma. When subserosal leiomyomas are characterized by extrauterine parenchymal masses, they should be differentiated from ovarian malignancies and ovarian endometriomas.

 3. intramural leiomyoma

Intramural leiomyomas often lead to uneven enlargement and contour deformation of the uterus, local bulges, and narrowing of the uterine cavity. Because most myenteric leiomyomas change the contour of the uterus, planar scans are not easy to miss the diagnosis. After enhanced scanning, leiomyoma was significantly enhanced homogeneously or heterogeneously. Swirls and small plaques can be seen with low density, and a "pseudocapsule" can be seen around them. Such leiomyomas should be distinguished from adenomyosis and corpus uterine carcinoma.
